Bunny's Big Day of Sounds grew out of years spent in therapy rooms and living rooms, helping toddlers find their first words.
Cansu Ozer is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and early intervention specialist with years of hands-on experience helping babies and toddlers build their first communication skills.
She wrote Bunny's Big Day of Sounds to give families a warm, playful tool they could use at home — the same kinds of sounds, repetition, and imitation opportunities she builds into real therapy sessions, wrapped in a story little ones want to read again and again.

Bunny's Big Day of Sounds was created by a pediatric speech-language pathologist to nurture the earliest stages of communication: imitation, shared attention, and connection during playful, everyday moments.
The story models the foundations of language — sounds, actions, and simple phrases — through joyful movement and emotion. Each page encourages little ones to see it, hear it, and do it, supporting the natural progression from copying actions and sounds to building meaningful communication.
Your child learns best through shared joy and repetition. The goal isn't to “finish the story,” but to interact together — imitate, pause, and celebrate every sound, movement, and expression they share with you.
Every child's voice blooms at their own pace. Connection, not perfection, builds communication. You're your child's best language model. Have fun, be silly, and enjoy the sounds of your day together!
Before children use real words, they explore sounds like “uh-oh” and “yay!” Simply put, sounds are easier to imitate than words. These early imitation attempts build confidence and show children that their voices have power and meaning.
Copying simple, visible actions like brushing, hopping, or pretending to sleep helps children learn through their bodies. When a caregiver joins in, imitation becomes a shared experience that fosters connection and attention to language.
By linking a sound or word to an action (e.g., “brush brush” while brushing), children experience language with their whole body. This pairing strengthens the brain pathways between motor movement and speech, supporting the development of verbal imitation and later word use.
